J.A. Manter collection of university films, 1928-1963.

The film reels were transferred to VHS video cassette in the mid to late 1980s. The films were not viewed to verify the descriptions supplied by Mr. Manter. Film identification is sometimes incomplete, and valuable information, such as dates, sometimes missing. Text for reels 1-39 is copied exactly from J.A. Manter's notes; text for reels 39-51 is copied exactly from film reel canister.

Jerauld Armington Manter was born in 1890 and died in 1990 in Mansfield Center, CT. He taught at the University of Connecticut until his retirement in 1953 at the rank of Associate Professor (Entomology). In 1931, the faculty of the University of Connecticut voted to offer comprehensive examinations in most degree programs to graduating seniors, and outgrowth of a report to the Committee on the Study of Honors (11/6/1930).
